Viewing Comments</A></H1><P> From the "View Topic" page (see <AHREF="x504.html#VIEW-TOPIC">Section 3.5.1</A>),the "Topic Comments" tab can be clicked toview the comments associatedwith a topic. This can be clicked at any stage to see whatcomments have been submitted against a review. It is oftennecessary for the author once a review has been completed, towork their way through the comments from the browser, althoughthey can do this with their email client as well (assuming<CODECLASS="VARNAME">$allow_comment_email</CODE> is true in<TTCLASS="FILENAME">codestriker.conf</TT>), since each commentwill generate an email message. An example screenshot of the"Topic Comments" page can be seen in <AHREF="x602.html#FIGURE-VIEWCOMMENTS">Figure 3-10</A>.<DIVCLASS="FIGURE"><ANAME="FIGURE-VIEWCOMMENTS"></A><P><B>Figure 3-10. For each thread, all of the comments madeare shown, including author and date information. For eachcomment thread, the current values of the comment metricsassociated with the thread will be displayed. In thisexample, there is only a single comment metric clled "Status".The metric values associated with the thread can be updated bychanging the value of the metric dropdowns, and clicking the"Update" button at the bottom of the page.</P><P> For each comment thread, there are three links to otherCodestriker screens. The first link will bring up a "ViewFile" page (see <AHREF="x504.html#VIEW-FILE">Section 3.5.3</A>) centered on theline number of the comment, "Parallel" will do the same, byusing the parallel view, and the "Add comment" link will bringup the "Add Comment" window (see <AHREF="x504.html#ADD-COMMENT">Section 3.5.2</A>)for that line number.</P><P> In this particular example, there are two comment blocks, forfile <TTCLASS="FILENAME">codestriker/codestriker.pl</TT>, on lines27 and 60.</P><P> At the top of this page are a number of filtering options, which control what comments are displayed. Comments can befiltered by the author of the comment and/or specific commentmetric values. In addition, for each comment block, it is alsopossible to display the context of the topic text the commentblock is made against (as is done for the "Add Comment" page,see<AHREF="x504.html#ADD-COMMENT">Section 3.5.2</A>). These controls provide thecapability for generating code review reports, which can thenbe used at code inspection meetings.</P></DIV><DIVCLASS="NAVFOOTER"><HRALIGN="LEFT"WIDTH="100%"><TABLESUMMARY="Footer navigation table"WIDTH="100%"BORDER="0"CELLPADDING="0"CELLSPACING="0"><TR><TDWIDTH="33%"ALIGN="left"VALIGN="top"><AHREF="x504.html"ACCESSKEY="P">Prev</A></TD><TDWIDTH="34%"ALIGN="center"VALIGN="top"><AHREF="book1.html"ACCESSKEY="H">Home</A></TD><TDWIDTH="33%"ALIGN="right"VALIGN="top"><AHREF="x624.html"ACCESSKEY="N">Next</A></TD></TR><TR><TDWIDTH="33%"ALIGN="left"VALIGN="top">Reviewing Topics</TD><TDWIDTH="34%"ALIGN="center"VALIGN="top"><AHREF="c333.html"ACCESSKEY="U">Up</A></TD><TDWIDTH="33%"ALIGN="right"VALIGN="top">Topic Properties</TD></TR></TABLE></DIV></BODY></HTML>
