Running install.pl</A></H1><P> The <TTCLASS="FILENAME">install.pl</TT> script located inthe <TTCLASS="FILENAME">bin</TT> directory <SPANCLASS="emphasis"><ICLASS="EMPHASIS">must</I></SPAN> be runbefore Codestriker can be used, or after each upgrade. Thereis no harm in running it as many times as you like. Thepurpose of the script is to ensure all of the necessary pieceson your system are installed, and tells you how to installanything that is missing. The other purpose of the script isto create the Codestriker database, and perform any necessarydata migrations.</P><P> Perl is available by default for all UNIX systems. ForWindows, you can download it for free from <AHREF="http://www.activestate.com/Products/Download/Download.plex?id=ActivePerl"TARGET="_top">http://www.activestate.com/Products/Download/Download.plex?id=ActivePerl</A>. Note if you are using IIS as your web-server, pleasesee <AHREF="x302.html">Section 2.5</A> on appropriate ActivePerl releases.</P><P> To run <TTCLASS="FILENAME">install.pl</TT> under UNIX, do thefollowing:<PRECLASS="PROGRAMLISTING">% cd /codestriker/install/location/bin% ./install.pl</PRE>For Windows, you need to do something like the following fromthe command prompt:<PRECLASS="PROGRAMLISTING">% cd c:\codestriker\install\location\bin% install.pl</PRE></P><P> This will tell you what missing Perl modules you have,and how to install them. It will then attempt to try andinitialise the Codestriker database.
